I recently went to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens for their Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights. It was a great experience and I will definitely be coming back next year! The light displays are absolutely gorgeous and there are several bars set up with both kid friendly AND adult beverages. You can get hot cocoa or hot cider with your choice of Peppermint Schnapps, Bailey’s or Fireball. If you are looking for more options, the tea house has been turned into a “Jingle Bar” that has several food and drink options. You can still get the cocoa/cider, or you can pick from a variety of canned beers/wines. If you are looking for a convenient meal option, you can purchase one of their “Jingle Baskets“. These baskets include some pre-packaged foods, a bottle of wine and some non-alcoholic beverages.
The lights are spread out all along the grounds and in some of the buildings. The butterfly room in the greenhouse has been turned into a gorgeous Christmas tree room. Inside one of the classroom buildings, you can find a large model train. It had an elaborate set up with multiple trains running through a variety of “landscapes”.
This event goes until January 8th if you happen to be in the area and interested in seeing it for yourself! You can find tickets for the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens for their Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights here.
