I have visited Massapequa Preserve several times and I really enjoy it. The preserve is several hundreds of acres and it is very well maintained. When you visit, you can chose to walk, hike bike or even fish. I have also found it to be a great spot for birding. There is a large amount of water in this park that is home to numerous species of waterfowl. The wooded areas also contain a large amount of species. I actually had the pleasure to see an Eastern Screech Owl during my most recent visit! It can get a bit crowded at times, but there is so much space you can find ways to avoid the “traffic”. There is no fee to enter and there are several access points to chose from.
