In August 2019 I spent about a week in Acadia National Park. I had never been to Maine before but I had always wanted to go. I had a wonderful time exploring the region and taking in all the sights. One of the highlights was a wildlife boat tour with Sea Princess Cruises. We alsoContinue reading “Acadian Dreams”

Dutch Gap Conservation Area
Dutch Gap Conservation Area is a park in Chesterfield County, Virginia. It seemed to be quite a popular park. We saw several people hiking, fishing and boating along the river. The trail system is very well marked and it is a very easy grade. The parking lot for the trails is shared by the HenricusContinue reading “Dutch Gap Conservation Area”
Texas Beach Trail
The Texas Beach Trail is a scenic spot along the James River. You have the option to either start in the parking area, or join up to it from the North Bank Trail. I chose to start by the James River Pipeline, go to the North Bank and then to Texas Beach. I was aContinue reading “Texas Beach Trail”
More James River Wandering
Here are some more pictures of my adventures down by the James River. Enjoy!
James River North Bank Trail
The James River Park System’s North Bank Trail is quickly becoming a favorite hiking spot for me. This is a multiuse trail that is open to hikers and mountain bikers. It links to several other trails, basically turning your hiking into a “choose your own adventure” path. This time around, I started by the BelleContinue reading “James River North Bank Trail”
Richmond’s Buttermilk Trail
On Friday I spent the day hiking around the James River. My main focus was the James River Park System’s Buttermilk Trail. This trail is used for hiking and mountain biking. I did this trail along with some other areas so it ended up being close to a ten mile hike. This is the routeContinue reading “Richmond’s Buttermilk Trail”
Libby Hill Park Sunset

Several people gather here at sunset but there are plenty of places to sit or stand to enjoy a date (a couple actually got engaged behind meContinue reading “Libby Hill Park Sunset”
Bees?
Spring and summer are excellent times to get outside and photograph bees. Here are some of the bee pictures I have taken recently. Enjoy!
York River State Park
York River State Park is near the Virginia Coast (the York River eventually empties into the Chesapeake Bay). This park has a combination of fresh and salt water, as well as a well maintained trail system. It is definitely worth a visit!
Goose Family
A few weeks ago I came across a large group of geese in the James River Canal. There were several goslings of varying ages and multiple adults keeping an eye on them. I’m enjoying watching them change over time here!
