One of the biggest highlights of my weekend was the Grayson Highland ponies. Based on my research, the ponies were originally released into the park in the 1970s. The reason for releasing them was to control vegetation growth on the bald sections of trail. The ponies are considered wild but they did not seem toContinue reading “Grayson Highland Ponies”

Twin Pinnacles Trail
Yesterday, I put up a post about my recent hike up Mount Rogers. Today, I want to tell you about the much easier hike we did the next day. We did a short balloon loop called the Twin Pinnacles Trail. When things were going well: It was a hot and humid day (91 with 95% humidity to be exact) but I am doing a hiking challenge and I wanted to get extra miles. I looked over my park map and found a trail that was just over 9 miles long. It was the Fendley StationContinue reading “The Fendley Station Trail”
