Take A Seat

Here is a collection of photos that I am calling “Take A Seat”. I have noticed that while I am out exploring, I tend to take a lot of photos of benches (though I hardly ever sit on them). These are some of the better resting spots I have found so far. Enjoy!

Cumberland State Forest

On Sunday, my husband and I did some hiking in Cumberland State Forest. We were looking to do an 8 mile loop along the Cumberland Multiuse Trail that we found on AllTrails, but we had to pivot due to a lack of parking in that area. Instead, we did a different section of that trailContinue reading “Cumberland State Forest”

Bright Hope & Otter Lick Loop Trail

I recently hiked the Bright Hope and Otter Lick Loop trail in Pocahontas State Park. My husband and I hiked just over seven miles that day in two hours and twenty minutes. It is an easy hike as most of the ground is flat. Towards the end of the hike, we happened to find anContinue reading “Bright Hope & Otter Lick Loop Trail”

Buddies of Belle Isle

Just over a week ago, I did some more hiking on Belle Isle in Richmond. This is a favorite spot of mine as it is close by and an easy hike. Instead of sticking to the main trail around the island the whole time, I went up the hill and explored the “higher elevations”. ThisContinue reading “Buddies of Belle Isle”

Floodwall Friday

Okay so full disclosure, I actually took these pictures on Sunday BUT “Floodwall Friday” was the best title I could come up with. If you have been following this page for a while, you know that the Floodwall is one of my favorite places in town. It is an easy walk along the river thatContinue reading “Floodwall Friday”

Hollywood Cemetery Pt. 2

Yesterday I shared part one of my Hollywood Cemetery photos. Today, I am sharing the rest of the images I got. In today’s collection I have the resting sites of former US Presidents James Monroe and John Tyler. I also have the Confederate Soldiers Monument and the Iron Dog. Presidents Monroe and Tyler These areContinue reading “Hollywood Cemetery Pt. 2”

Hollywood Cemetery Pt. 1

Recently, I took a trip to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia. This is a large cemetery that borders the James River. This cemetery is “home” to two US presidents, a Confederate president, several governors and other people of prominence. You can browse their list of notable sights here and here. I took so many photographsContinue reading “Hollywood Cemetery Pt. 1”

Meal Time At Tuckahoe

Here are some pictures of meal time at Tuckahoe Creek. The Great Blue Herons had some good luck, but they were completely overshadowed by the otters. I have never seen such a successful group of predators in person before. I’m glad I am not a fish in this creek! I hope you enjoy these shotsContinue reading “Meal Time At Tuckahoe”
